James Paul McCartney (The Beatles)

Likely the most famous bassist (and left handed person) ever, Paul too started on guitar before joining the other team in The Liverpool cave. His catchiest bass lines often appear on John Lennon songs (Come Together & Good Morning Good morning). Paul still plays upright as well as guitar and piano. 39 years ago he asked us, "will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm 64?" The answer from here is a resounding yes.
